Located in the heart of Wood County, near Lake Fork, Mineola and Winnsboro, this 23 acres of gardens, walking trails and historic buildings are all being restored by volunteer help from Wood County MasterGardens, local garden clubs, various civic rganizationsand generosity of the business people and local citizens of Quitman.
Half mile of walking trails, and plans for additional trails, rose gardens, perennial gardens, azaleas, bog gardens and preparations for extensive children's gardens will provide many hours of enjoyment for visitors and members of the community.

2009 Spring Plant Sale
The Friends of the Arboretum are holding the 2nd annual spring plant sale at Gov Hogg Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens, Quitman , TX on Saturday, April 11, 2009. The sale will start at 8:30 a.m. and will end when the plants are all gone. Come early for the best selections!!!
The sale will include many varieties of hardy and zone appropriate perennial plants including trees, shrubs and Knockout Roses. There will also be a large selection of seasonal hanging baskets, annual bedding plants and a nice selection of tropical plants. The year's spring sale will also offer tomato plants, blueberry and blackberry bushes, fruit trees and various herbs.
The sale will be set up in the back parking lot of the park, near the Stinson house. For those visiting, it would be a perfect opportunity to tour the Arboretum's new flower beds, and enjoy the newly installed gazebo. In addition, many of the Wood County Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer your plant questions, Arboretum progress questions and assist with selection of garden plants.
All proceeds will go to help further develop the Arboretum. Patrons of the Arboretum have the extra benefit of discounted purchases and patron cards will be available at the plant sale for immediate savings. Patron levels and discounts are as follows: Green $25 with 5% discount, Silver $50 with10% discount, Gold $100 with 15% discount, and Platinum $500 with 20% discount and Diamond $1000 with 30% discount.
